Schiphol to welcome new American Express Centurion Lounge with “focus on both comfort and premium service”

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is to welcome the opening of The Centurion Lounge by American Express in 2026, which will “focus on both comfort and premium service” for eligible card members.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol – a Corporate Partner of the FTE Digital, Innovation & Startup Hub – is to welcome the opening of The Centurion Lounge by American Express in 2026. The Centurion Lounge, a premium place for eligible card members to rest between piers E and F, is the first lounge announced to be operated by a global credit card company at Schiphol. It will offer eligible card members a premium experience with a local Dutch inspiration.

The Centurion Lounge is being designed in a stylish palette of blue, green and earth tones, inspired by Amsterdam’s canals and characteristic architecture. The interior exudes craftsmanship and combines modern design with art made by local creators. Large windows mean lots of light and a view over the lively Kiss & Ride area at Schiphol.

“We are proud that American Express is going to be the first global credit card company to open its own lounge – the iconic Centurion Lounge – at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol,” said Dave Stroop, Manager Terminal Development, Schiphol Commercial. “We’ve been working intensively with the American Express team to make this possible and we look forward to the arrival of this valuable addition to our airport offering. The focus on both comfort and premium service takes the travel experience for eligible card members to the next level and will appeal to both new and returning airport travellers.”

The coffee bar is a central element in the lounge – an ode to Dutch coffee culture and the social interactions that go hand-in-hand with it. Visitors can expect a warm atmosphere that promotes relaxation and connection. The Centurion Lounge will offer eligible card members signature Centurion amenities, from high-quality meals and drinks to comfortable seating areas, workstations with charging points and high-speed WiFi.

“With a large number of American Express card members travelling through Schiphol each year, the new Centurion Lounge will be an important addition to our growing global Centurion Lounge Network,” said Audrey Hendley, President, American Express Travel. “We know travellers are looking for authentic, local experiences when they travel, and the new Centurion Lounge will deliver a premium experience and amenities with a taste of Dutch history and culture.”
