Changi Airport Group signs MoU with Meilan Airport to strengthen cooperation on tech innovation and more

Changi Airport Group and Haikou Meilan International Airport have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen their collaboration in areas including technology innovation and much more.

Changi Airport Group (CAG) – a Headline Partner of APEX FTE Asia Expo, Singapore, 11-12 November 2025 – and Haikou Meilan International Airport (Meilan Airport) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their collaboration in areas including airport management, route and cargo development, staff training, and technology innovation. The two-year agreement marks a significant step towards driving mutual growth and enhancing connectivity in the region.

Meilan Airport is embracing smart airport technologies to enhance service efficiency and operational excellence. Internationally recognised for its achievements in safety, brand development, and social responsibility, the airport plays a vital role in supporting the growth of the Hainan Free Trade Port and strengthening China’s presence in the global air transport network.

Under the agreement, CAG and Meilan Airport will work closely to share knowledge and best practices in airport operations, including terminal management and airside management. It also outlines a commitment to staff training through an existing commercial joint venture with CAG’s subsidiary Changi Airports International (CAI), promoting the exchange of skills and expertise between the two organisations.

“We are delighted to formalise our partnership with Meilan Airport through this MoU,” said Mr Yam Kum Weng, CAG’s Chief Executive Officer. “The collaboration reflects our shared vision for driving operational excellence and innovations in aviation. By combining our strengths and expertise, we look forward to unlocking new opportunities for growth, advancing technology adoption, and enhancing air connectivity in the region.”
