Southampton Airport – part of AGS Airports – has entered a new phase in its multi-million-pound project to enhance security screening with state-of-the-art Next Generation Security Checkpoint (NGSC) scanners. The installation of the NGSC scanners represents a major upgrade to the airport’s security process.

Once fully operational, these scanners will allow passengers to keep electronic devices, such as laptops, in their hand baggage during screening, significantly improving convenience and streamlining the security experience.

“The introduction of the next generation scanners not only represents a significant investment by the airport, it represents one of the most significant advancements in airport security,” said Gavin Williams, Managing Director Operations, Southampton Airport. “It also underscores our commitment to improving the passenger experience and I am excited about the long-term benefits it will deliver. As with any major project there is the possibility of some disruption which is why we are asking passengers to ensure they allow enough time for their journey through the airport.”
